About Me

It is important to trust and feel comfortable with your therapist.  To help you achieve this, I have outlined my background.

I come from a teaching background and have wide experience of working with students who, for many reasons, felt they did not achieve at school.  Helping them with confidence, self-esteem, fear of failure and many other barriers to learning, made me realise how easy it is to be held back by past events and patterns of thinking.  It seemed a natural progression to train and become qualified as a counsellor.  I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and undertook further training in many areas of Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programing and Gestalt Work.

During my work at a GP surgery, I suffered a setback when I discovered I had a serious illness and started looking at ways to cope and rebuild my life.  I became interested in Psychoneuroimmunology and the power of the sub-conscious mind to bring about positive change.  My own personal experience led me to train and graduate as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.  I have done further specialist training to help people to manage pain, to resolve difficult emotions, to manage stress, to build real confidence and overcome fears and phobias.  This is only the start of what hypnotherapy can help you achieve.

I am a registered practitioner with the GHSc (General Hypnotherapy Standards Council) and abide by the Council's code of ethics.  I have professional indemnity insurance for client sessions.

I see clients in a dedicated clinic room overlooking the river, a mile or so from the city centre of Salisbury, hence the name "Riverside Hypnotherapy" .
